STEM Program Manager
Cheryl Martinez began her career in student affairs as an advocate for students. With a Master degree in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University, Cheryl has an extensive background in working with diverse communities at both large 4-year universities as well as community colleges, supporting students in residential life, student activities/programming, learning communities and student government. Cheryl has spent her career in education working for students who are left behind or systemically barred from access to opportunities. She joined the Growth Sector team in 2013 as a Student Support Specialist and is now leading the STEM Core Initiative around campus programming, network technical assistance, staff onboarding and professional development/ongoing training, employer development and the STEM Core internship program. As a former Division 1 Volleyball player Cheryl stays active playing in pickup leagues and prioritizes fitness (HIIT/Bootcamps). Based in Los Angeles she enjoys exploring the city, spending time with her husband and two children and traveling.
